Illumina Residences Manila is a homeowner’s dream house

A two-bedroom model unit is both spacious and well-lit during daytime by large windows and a balcony.

MANILA, Philippines - For high school science teacher and mother of five Jacq Tychuaco, home is a big house with a lawn. So when she and husband Irwin decided to get their own home in 2012, size, like their in-laws’ spacious Quezon City residence that has a garden, was a criterion.

The 32-storey Illumina Residences Manila in Sta. Mesa, Manila entered their option list one day. The resort-themed residential community of DMCI Homes along V. Mapa Street is accessible to work, schools and even their in-laws’ home in Araneta Avenue. “The structure is unlike other condos that look like a box. When we went inside, it was bright and windy,” recalls Jacq of one of the reasons Illumina Residences Manila convinced her to try a condo home.

Irwin drives everyone to school every morning on his way to the office and Jacq, who teaches at her two younger children’s school in San Juan, walks home with the kids after their class. The children, ages 19, 13, 12, 9 and 2 always swim together. Irwin and Jacq also bring their children to the basketball court to play when time permits. Aside from swimming pools and the basketball court, Illumina Residences’ other amenities are an entertainment room, fitness gym, function hall and roof deck lounge.

Jacq, who loves flowers and gardening, continues her hobby at their home’s balcony. She takes care of potted plants taken from her mom’s Batangas house. For now, home is Illumina Residences Manila for the Tychuacos.

DMCI Homes formally acquired from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) a 5,000 square meter lot in the former Villamor Airbase driving range in Pasay City after signing the deed of sale for the property.

DMCI Homes President Alfredo R. Austria and BCDA President and CEO Arnel Paciano D. Casanova, Esq. signed the deed of sale during a ceremony at the BCDA office in Bonifacio Global City last October 10.

DMC Homes plans to build a sustainable urban community in the property located beside the Philippine State College of Aeronautics and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).

“Once again, we’ll gladly take it upon ourselves to utilize our expertise in construction and engineering to deliver yet another world-class resort-inspired community,” Austria said during the signing ceremony.

Austria also thanked the BCDA for auctioning the property.

Casanova welcomed another partnership with the triple A property developer.

“DMCI Homes is a known developer and player in the industry. We know that they’re going to bring a good development in the area,” said Casanova.

The BCDA chief said DMCI Homes has been a partner of the agency since the 1990s, when the developer built its socialized housing project called Pamayanang Diego Silang along C-5 Road in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City. The housing project is beside DMCI Homes’ township development called Acacia Estates, which consists of several residential condominium complexes.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by DMCI Homes Senior Vice President for Sales Florante Ofrecio and Business Development Manager Gerardo Ramos as well as BCDA’s Executive Vice President Aileen Zosa, Manager for Business Development Arrey Perez and Legal Services Department head Atty. Peter Flores.

Casanova also presented to Austria a replica of the Burgos Circle tree, the symbol of Bonifacio Global City, as token, after the ceremony.

With the new property, DMCI Homes is expected to add a resort-themed residential community in Pasay City. Currently, the two-tower La Verti Residences along Taft Avenue near Gil Puyat Avenue is the developer’s sole residential condominium community in the city.
